Baseball Recap: North Hollywood Huskies vs. Banning Pilots
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but North Hollywood had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Banning Pilots. Winning may never get old, but North Hollywood sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
The team relied heavily on Nick Park, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, a stolen base, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Velazquez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
On Banning's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Phillip Melgoza, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
North Hollywood has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. As for Banning, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-14.
North Hollywood will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Chino Hills at 4:00 p.m. Chino Hills is coming into the contest with six straight wins at home, so North Hollywood will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Banning does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
