Basketball Game Preview: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons vs. LeRoy Panthers

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley and LeRoy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons will take on the LeRoy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

On Thursday, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley strolled past Fieldcrest with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Knights are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for LeRoy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They secured a 36-32 W over Heyworth on Thursday.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley pushed their record up to 22-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26 points. As for LeRoy, their record now sits at 16-12.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley was able to grind out a solid win over LeRoy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 51-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
