Basketball Game Preview: Reno Huskies vs. McQueen Lancers

The Reno Huskies will square off against the McQueen Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reno has ten straight wins, McQueen has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Reno is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Manogue, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Reno was ranked fifth). Reno came out on top against Bishop Manogue by a score of 46-36 on Friday.

Reno's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eva Houston, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Houston a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Brookesly Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Meanwhile, McQueen played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Spanish Springs and fell 62-26. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-10.

Reno has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for McQueen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-21.

Reno took their win against McQueen in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 53-28. Does Reno have another victory up their sleeve, or will McQueen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
