Soccer Game Preview: Niles West vs. Maine West

The Niles West Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Maine West Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maine West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Niles West, who comes in off a win.

Niles West played against Senn on Saturday and won via forfeit.

Maine West managed to keep up with Elmwood Park until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Warriors lost 4-0 to the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Maine West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Elmwood Park are ranked 160th).

Niles West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six games. As for Maine West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Niles West took their victory against Maine West in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wolves since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
