Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Toll Gate

Toll Gate took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Portsmouth, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Patriots on Monday. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one run.

Emma Harold was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Aria Eddy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

The victory (which was Toll Gate's third in a row) raised their record to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Portsmouth, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, Toll Gate is taking a road trip to challenge North Kingstown at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portsmouth, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
