Baseball Recap: Farwell Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Farwell had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-15 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Coleman Comets. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 10-6 win the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Wyatt VanBuskirk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last nine matchups.

In other batting news, Blake Sholes was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

As for Coleman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

On Coleman's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jared DeVrieze, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI was DeVrieze's first of the season. Zayne Lytle was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Farwell will welcome Reed City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coleman, they will head out on the road to take on Beal City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
