Softball Game Preview: Manhattan Village Academy Silver Hawks vs. University Neighborhood Panthers

The Manhattan Village Academy Silver Hawks will face off against the University Neighborhood Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Manhattan Village Academy has six straight wins, University Neighborhood has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Manhattan Village Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Baruch College, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Silver Hawks put the hurt on the Blue Devils Bearcats with a sharp 11-3 victory on Friday. The Silver Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for University Neighborhood's offense. They lost 13-0 to NEST+m on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Manhattan Village Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for University Neighborhood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Manhattan Village Academy took their win against University Neighborhood in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 32-12 score. Will the Silver Hawks repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
