Softball Recap: Westminster Wolves vs. Prairie View Thunderhawks        
        
		
             Westminster fought the good fight in their extra-innings  matchup against Prairie View  on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Prairie View Thunderhawks. The Wolves have struggled against the Thunderhawks recently, as their  match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
  Ryanne Martin spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. Those eight  innings set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  Magaly Santacruz was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 4-for-5 with a  triple, two  RBI, and a  run. Another player making a difference was  Estefany Martinez Miranda, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Even though they lost, Westminster  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie View only posted  an  OBP of  .371.
 Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Prairie View,  the  victory snapped their losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 7-7 record.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster will head out to  challenge Adams City  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Westminster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4  runs per game  this season. As for Prairie View, they will challenge Boulder at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Boulder knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  team has finished with ten run or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Prairie View likes a good challenge.
