Basketball Recap: Homer Comes Up Short

Homer lost against Walthill back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Homer Knights took a 73-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Walthill Blujays.

Despite the defeat, Homer saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reed Modlin went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points along with seven assists and five boards. Those 13 points gave Modlin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Axton Caskey, who posted 17 points.

Homer's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Walthill, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.

Homer has already played their next match, a 46-35 victory against Winside on the 1st. As for Walthill, they will square off against Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walthill is facing Randolph at the right time seeing as Randolph is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
