Softball Preview: Largo Packers vs. St. Petersburg Green Devils
Largo hasn't had much luck against St. Petersburg recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Largo will challenge St. Petersburg at 4:00 p.m. Largo will be strutting in after a victory while St. Petersburg will be coming in after a defeat.
Largo had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Indian Rocks Christian on Friday. Largo was the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over Indian Rocks Christian. The Packers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Paige Sofge made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Miranda Rollins was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Claire Meloy, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.
Largo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Petersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 11-1 to Seminole.
Largo pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
