Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Takes a Loss

Heritage Christian lost against Westside Christian Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Heritage Christian Patriots were dealt an 85-46 defeat at the hands of the Westside Christian Academy Eagles. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.

Calvin Cottenden was his usual excellent self, going 13-for-19 on his way to 29 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks for Westside Christian Academy. That's the most blocks Cottenden has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Douglass, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Heritage Christian dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Westside Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Heritage Christian and Westside Christian Academy will both be playing Horizon Science Academy the next time they take the court. Westside Christian Academy will head out to face Horizon Science Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Heritage Christian will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on February 25th.
