Softball Game Preview: Norristown Eagles vs. Lower Moreland Lions

The Norristown Eagles will head out to take on the Lower Moreland Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Norristown came up short against Pope John Paul II on Friday, falling 15-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with Pope John Paul II: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Lower Moreland, as they earned their first away win of the season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Lower Merion on Thursday. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddie Menchhofer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Menchhofer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jordyn MacPhee was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Weber, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Lower Moreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Norristown's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lower Moreland, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
