Basketball Recap: Grosse Ile Comes Up Short

Grosse Ile was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 34-25 to the Flat Rock Rams. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Rams are ranked 140th).

Flat Rock's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madleen Hussein, who posted 14 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hussein has scored at least a third of Flat Rock's points. Layla Holbrook was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Grosse Ile's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Flat Rock, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Grosse Ile will challenge Airport at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Flat Rock, they will take on Milan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
