Softball Recap: Calallen Makes It 19 in a Row at Home

Calallen got themselves on the board against King on Friday, but King never followed suit. Everything went their way against the King Brahmas as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Brahmas: they've now won nine in a row.

Bianca Gonzales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Audryna Almaraz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Kaylie Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Calallen's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.7 runs. As for King, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-12.

Looking ahead, Calallen is taking a road trip to square off against Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calallen's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Zapata's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for King, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tuloso-Midway at 7:00 p.m. This will be Tuloso-Midway's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
