Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is North Duplin's Fifth in Last Six Outings

North Duplin won against Rosewood on Tuesday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Rebels beat the Hobbton Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 on April 1st.

Noah Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Duplin let Wesley Holmes and Hunt Pate run wild. Holmes went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple, while Pate scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most RBI Holmes has posted since back in March.

North Duplin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hobbton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Coming up, North Duplin will be taking part in a tournament against South Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rebels 4.1, the Blue Devils 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hobbton, they will welcome Neuse Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
