Softball Recap: North Mac Panthers vs. Jacksonville Crimsons
North Mac extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 10-3 to the Jacksonville Crimsons. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimsons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
North Mac saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lennox Wiseman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was Wiseman's first of the season.
As for Jacksonville, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
On Jacksonville's side, Kenzie Law was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Law has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chase Neice was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Moore, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Mac will head out to take on Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jacksonville, they will challenge MacArthur at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.58 runs per game on average), something the Crimsons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
