Softball Recap: Apollo Eagles vs. Owensboro Red Devils
Apollo won against Christian County last Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Apollo Eagles walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Owensboro Red Devils. Winning may never get old, but Apollo sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Mollie Julian looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Abbigail Butterworth was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Emersyn Bullington, who went 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.
Apollo's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Owensboro, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Apollo will be playing in front of their home fans against Jasper at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Owensboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Breckinridge County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owensboro is facing Breckinridge County at the right time seeing as Breckinridge County is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
