Softball Recap: Saugerties Wins Going Away Against Red Hook

Saugerties won the last time they faced Red Hook and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sawyers blew past the Raiders 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Sawyers, who have now won three matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Stinemire made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stinemire was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alanna Mower, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Stafford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Saugerties kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Saugerties and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Red Hook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
