Volleyball Recap: Orange Beach Makos vs. Buckhorn Bucks
Orange Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Buckhorn Bucks by a score of 3-2. The Makos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Orange Beach wouldn't go down easily and took Buckhorn into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 15-7.
Leading Buckhorn to victory were Samya Scruggs and Chloe Brewington. Scruggs had 18 digs and two aces, while Brewington had 15 digs. That's the most aces Scruggs has posted in her last 12 games.
Orange Beach now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Buckhorn, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 33-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orange Beach will take on St. Michael Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buckhorn, they will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Gulf Shores at 6:00 p.m.
