Baseball Game Preview: Tri-West Hendricks Bruins vs. McCutcheon Mavericks

Tri-West Hendricks is 0-3 against McCutcheon since May of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Bruins will take on the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Tri-West Hendricks will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

If Tri-West Hendricks beats McCutcheon with four runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Bruins had just enough and edged out Danville 4-3 on Wednesday.

Tri-West Hendricks got a great performance from Luke Haboush as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Haboush has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ethan Frye was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, McCutcheon got themselves on the board against Hamilton Heights on Thursday, but Hamilton Heights never followed suit. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 4-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Sam Swank tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, McCutcheon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Riley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Tri-West Hendricks pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for McCutcheon, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Tri-West Hendricks might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from McCutcheon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
