Baseball Recap: Shades Valley Comes Up Short

Shades Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clay-Chalkville Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 back in February.

Devin Scott made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Eli Nelson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Scott wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Shades Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.

Shades Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Clay-Chalkville, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.

Looking ahead, Shades Valley will take on Wetumpka at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay-Chalkville, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mortimer Jordan at 4:30 p.m. on April 1.
