Basketball Game Preview: Father Capodanno Grunts vs. Village Christian Academy Knights

Father Capodanno is 0-7 against Village Christian Academy since November of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Father Capodanno Grunts are taking a road trip to square off against the Village Christian Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Father Capodanno is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-46 heartbreaker at the hands of Falcon Christian Academy. One positive for the Grunts, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Canon Capps, who posted 12 points. Jonah Marsh was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Village Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 101-65 defeat at the hands of Northwood Temple Academy. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Eagles are ranked 93rd).

Village Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Father Capodanno, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Father Capodanno was taken down by Village Christian Academy 75-32 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can Father Capodanno avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
