Football Recap: Macarthur Skates Past Aldine with Ease

MacArthur's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Aldine Mustangs, posting a 48-0 win. The Generals' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

MacArthur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Smith out in front who threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 passes. Quan Reynolds was in the mix too, providing the Generals with three TDs.

MacArthur's run defense was locked in: Aldine could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. While four picked up at least four total tackles, Reynolds stood above the rest. He picked up 143 receiving yards and three scores. MacArthur's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.8 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.23 on average over their last three games.

MacArthur's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Aldine, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. MacArthur will head out to square off against Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Aldine, they will venture away from home to challenge Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aldine will need to watch out since Westfield has now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
