Basketball Recap: Maxwell's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Maxwell finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They took a 48-30 bruising from the Biggs Wolverines. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Maxwell still got an impressive performance from Vincent Orozco, who posted 13 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Krug, who scored four points and six rebounds.

Biggs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Flowers, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Flowers a new career-high in assists (three). Cameron Kroupa was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maxwell fell to 4-1. As for Biggs, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Maxwell will take on Hayfork in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Timberjacks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Biggs and CORE Butte will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
