Baseball Recap: St. Joseph's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

St. Joseph came into Tuesday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Lakeshore Lancers by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Lancers on Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Henry Church spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Blayke Sicurello and Bryce Vujtech did most of the damage at the plate: Sicurello went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs, while Vujtech went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Vujtech has posted over his last nine games. Nathan Schmitt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 8-11-1. As for Lakeshore, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will host Portage Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeshore, they will face off against Hudsonville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
