Baseball Recap: Cathedral Prep Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

With a playoff win on the line, Cathedral Prep rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Slippery Rock Rockets 2-1. The Ramblers haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Cathedral Prep got a great performance from Frank Thomas as he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Thomas has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cathedral Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derick Friedman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another was Owen Fetzner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Cathedral Prep's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Slippery Rock, they moved to 14-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
