Baseball Recap: St. Bonaventure Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Bonaventure can now relate to. They fell just short of the Montebello Oilers by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Ricky Estrada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of St. Bonaventure's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 6-3 (and 9-12 when he doesn't).

St. Bonaventure's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Montebello, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-9.

St. Bonaventure does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montebello, they will square off against Heritage Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Oilers 2.8, the Warriors 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
