Baseball Recap: Jones Takes a Loss

Von Steuben hit Jones with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-5. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Jones and nudges their season record down to 14-17. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Von Steuben, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-13-3 record this season.

Jones will head out on the road to take on Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.7 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Von Steuben, they will host Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
