Coginchaug Regional had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-50 victory over the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 48-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Coginchaug Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shayla Vazquez out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Vazquez is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Sophie Farr, who posted 14 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists.
