The Merritt Island Christian Cougars will face off against the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merritt Island Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Merritt Island Christian turned things around against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy two weeks ago. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Sophia Kachouroff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Shae Janke was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Parker Morrison was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Perrysburg had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 8-3 to Hayes.

Perrysburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayley Griggs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Merritt Island Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Perrysburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
