Preview: Star-Spencer Bobcats vs. Meeker Bulldogs
Star-Spencer is 0-3 against Meeker since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Star-Spencer Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Meeker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Star-Spencer came up short against Chandler and fell 23-14. While losing is never fun, Star-Spencer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Chandler is ranked 46th).
Despite the loss, Star-Spencer saw an underclassman step up: Braylon Lassitier threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Meeker was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Crossings Christian by a score of 24-17. The win made it back-to-back wins for Meeker.
Meeker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treyvon Compton led the charge by rushing for 54 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 217 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes. Meeker also got a significant boost from Ajay Lynch, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 141 yards.
Chandler's victory bumped their season record to 7-2 while Star-Spencer's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
Star-Spencer was taken down by Meeker 48-0 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Star-Spencer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
