The Tigard Tigers will square off against the Ida B. Wells Guardians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Tigard is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over Rancho Christian on Thursday. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.
Grayson Rose tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Oliver Jones was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Alexander Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Tigard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Christian only posted an OBP of .379.
Meanwhile, Ida B. Wells entered their tilt with Mountainside on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Mavericks.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Poole, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Cody Roletto was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Ida B. Wells' victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Tigard, their win bumped their record up to 3-1-1.
Tigard took their victory against Ida B. Wells in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Tigard repeat their success, or does Ida B. Wells has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
