Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Navy Find Success

The IMG Academy Navy Ascenders earned a 9-4 win over the First Baptist Academy Lions on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ascenders.

Xander Perrin tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for IMG Academy Navy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kento Yamada, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Grayson Veenendall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

IMG Academy Navy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

IMG Academy Navy's record is now 10-7. As for First Baptist Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

IMG Academy Navy has already played their next contest, an 8-5 loss against Pinellas Park on the 1st. As for First Baptist Academy, they will challenge Palmetto Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
