Football Game Preview: Okemos Wolves vs. Coldwater Cardinals

The Okemos Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Coldwater Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Okemos will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Waverly, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Wolves walked away with a 33-23 win over the Warriors on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Marshaun Hallums had a dynamite game, rushing for 111 yards and four TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Coldwater on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Pennfield out of the water with a 33-6 final score. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Panthers are ranked 278th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Okemos' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Coldwater, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Okemos beat Coldwater 21-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
