Baseball Recap: Mt. Eden Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Mt. Eden dropped their record down to 11-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 7-2 to the Arroyo Dons. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Monarchs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mt. Eden saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javier Alfaro III, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Arroyo, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Arroyo's side, Christian Darosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Darosa has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marco Carbajal was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Arroyo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Gabe Zamora was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

While Mt. Eden had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
