Soccer Recap: University City Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 2-2 at halftime, University City was not quite Kearny's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Kearny Komets by a score of 4-3. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Centurions came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Komets are ranked 270th).

University City's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Kearny, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

University City didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Hoover on the 13th. As for Kearny, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Clairemont on the 11th.
