Baseball Recap: York Sets Scoring Season-High Against Proviso West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York). They blew past the Proviso West Panthers 17-1 on Thursday. Considering the Dukes have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Lonergan looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jack Kamienski was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Grzywa, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive games.

York's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Proviso West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will host Wheaton-Warrenville South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dukes are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Proviso West, they will welcome Willowbrook at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
