Football Game Preview: Coahoma Bulldogs vs. Alpine Bucks

The Coahoma Bulldogs will square off against the Alpine Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alpine took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Coahoma, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Coahoma beat Merkel 27-19. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Badgers are ranked 610th).

Coahoma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanson Moore led the charge by rushing for 54 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Moore a new career-high. Coahoma also got a significant boost from Aiden Rodriguez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 124 yards.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Alpine and Compass Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bucks were beaten by the Cougars 41-14 on Friday. The Bucks haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The victory made it two in a row for Coahoma and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 19 points in those games. As for Alpine, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
