Softball Game Preview: Soda Springs Cardinals vs. Firth Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Soda Springs Cardinals take on Firth Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Soda Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Soda Springs will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Bear Lake, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals came out on top against the Bears by a score of 11-8 on Saturday.

Aiyana Davis was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Hemmert, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Soda Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Lake only posted an OBP of .410.

Meanwhile, Firth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-0 to North Fremont.

The victory got Soda Springs back to even at 2-2. As for Firth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Firth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Soda Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394.
