Softball Recap: Willow Spring Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Willow Spring rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Jordan Falcons. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Savannah Callis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Betzy Garcia-Molina was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Georgia Miller also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Willow Spring hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jordan struck out seven times.

Willow Spring pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jordan, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-4 record.

Willow Spring didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Wake Forest on the 15th. Jordan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
