Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Boone Grove put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Jimtown. The Wolves put the hurt on the Jimmies with a sharp 9-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won 19 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Javy Carrera was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Davian Carrera was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ben Truby was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Boone Grove's win bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Boone Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
