Basketball Recap: Clay County Takes a Loss

Clay County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Doddridge County Bulldogs 74-28. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Doddridge County was led to victory by Aleigh Cheeseman and Payton Trent. Cheeseman dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals, while Trent almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Trent a new career-high in steals. Akaia Williams was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Clay County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Doddridge County, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Coming up, Clay County will face off against Nicholas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Doddridge County, they will challenge Logan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
