Basketball Game Preview: McDonough Rams vs. Calvert Cavaliers

The McDonough Rams will take on the Calvert Cavaliers in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

McDonough fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Huntingtown on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 53-45 to the Hurricanes. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Hurricanes recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

McDonough might have lost, but man, Maleesah Williams was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Garrison, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Calvert came up short against Northern on Wednesday, falling 48-25. The contest marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Calvert now has a losing record at 2-3. As for McDonough, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

McDonough was able to grind out a solid win over Calvert in their previous matchup back in February, winning 46-37. Does McDonough have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calvert turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
