Basketball Game Preview: Coral Reef Barracudas vs. Reagan Bison

The Coral Reef Barracudas will face off against the Reagan Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Coral Reef took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They really took it to Miami Beach for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-34 win. The game marked the Barracudas' most dominant victory of the season.

Coral Reef relied on the efforts of Corey Gellineau, who posted 12 points, and Ashton Williams, who earned 12 points. Isaiah Charlot was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Reagan was able to grind out a solid win over Downtown Doral on Friday, taking the game 75-64. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Dolphins are ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Reagan's win came from a few key players Coral Reef will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Bravo, who had 18 points along with seven assists and five boards. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Reagan was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Reagan pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Coral Reef, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
