Basketball Recap: Michael Nevill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Neumann over First Baptist Academy

Neumann lost against First Baptist Academy back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Neumann Celtics took a hard 56-37 fall against the First Baptist Academy Lions. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Lions are ranked 77th).

Several Celtics players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Nevill, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Rees, who scored 12 points.

Neumann's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for First Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season.

Neumann does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for First Baptist Academy, they have already played their next game, a 65-47 victory against Carrollwood Day on the 12th.
