Basketball Recap: Summertown Comes Up Short

Summertown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cannon County Lions.

Despite the loss, Summertown still got an impressive performance from Kurt Burleson, who posted 29 points and three blocks. The game was Burleson's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Campbell, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Summertown's loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Cannon County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Summertown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cannon County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cannon County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matches -- so hopefully Mt. Pleasant likes a good challenge.
