Sulphur fell victim to Kaplan and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-0. The Golden Tors' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Claire Mellard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Sulphur's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Kaplan, the victory (which was their 19th in a row) raised their record to 29-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sulphur will welcome Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kaplan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northside Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
