Softball Game Preview: Highland Park Scots vs. Lone Star Rangers

The Highland Park Scots will head out to take on the Lone Star Rangers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Highland Park came up short against Creekview and fell 5-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Star). They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over Newman Smith on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Lairyn Bell looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyson Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Makala Wallace, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3.

Lone Star kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Highland Park's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Lone Star, their record now sits at 8-4-1.
