Basketball Game Preview: Towner-Granville-Upham Titans vs. Westhope/Newburg Sioux

Towner-Granville-Upham and Westhope/Newburg are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Towner-Granville-Upham Titans will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Westhope/Newburg Sioux at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Thursday, Towner-Granville-Upham lost to Tioga on the road by a 70-54 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by exactly 16 points.

Meanwhile, Westhope/Newburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Bishop Ryan an easy 59-33 win. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Sioux struggled afterwards.

Despite the defeat, Westhope/Newburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Olivia Ogaard posted eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Macy Bryans, who had seven points and nine rebounds.

Towner-Granville-Upham now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Westhope/Newburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for Towner-Granville-Upham against Westhope/Newburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 64-31 victory. Does Towner-Granville-Upham have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westhope/Newburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
