Basketball Recap: KIPP Austin Collegiate Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Genesis Robles and Carolina Yanez

After flying high against IDEA Round Rock Tech last Wednesday, KIPP Austin Collegiate came back down to earth. The KIPP Austin Collegiate Cardinals lost 50-26 to the Founders Classical Academy Archers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Archers: they've now lost four in a row.

KIPP Austin Collegiate's loss came despite strong showings from Carolina Yanez and Genesis Robles. Yanez posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Robles scored seven points along with nine boards and four steals. Robles has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last six times she's played. Abigail Perez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

KIPP Austin Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Founders Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the KIPP Austin Collegiate Cardinals face off against the IDEA Parmer Park Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Founders Classical Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Idea Pflugerville at 6:45 p.m. on February 4th.
